Bono has the aches and pains. 30 years ago this album came out. Still such a monumental album.

I am not sure there will be another like this, except for the Replacement's Pleased To Meet Me.

As for pizza?

A long lost way overdue review of one of my fave take out joints..

Uncle Bill's on West Locust.

And yours truly's birthday!

The kid is ready for zza.

Bill's. Maybe.

So it's yours truly's bday. I had a lot of rum so this pizza blog update is pretty ramschackle. I'm drunk.

Woah is me for sure

After last weeks travel to Marion ,I knew it was gonna be tough to top that. So Linda can serenade my woah have mercy on me.

Ten years ago. Sheri was coming home from work and won a charter membership to The Amazing Larry Fanclub. Do you all remember Amazing Larry from the Dave and Darren show?

I have the T-shirt to prove it.

So ten years ago we went there. Now. We went back minus the kid tonite.

Front loading.

To the Batmobile.

Okay, okay. Enough goofing off.  Poor Boy's Pizza is in Rock Island so that means a trip over the river.Let's go!

Poor Boy's is like a neighborhood bar and that is cool.

Yadier,Yadier.

So Poor Boy's is kinda like that friendly corner bar. The inside is a no frills bar and I like that. The bartender was friendly and attentive to us. We tipped him rather well too. A few indoor pics.

Bathroom was pretty clean.

The menu. Pretty basic, but we ordered some chicken wings and they were great! I'd like to eat about 50 of them.

So how was the pizza? We ordered a large garden style. Sausage,Pepperoni,Onion,Mushrooms and Green Peppers.

I'm going to give Poor Boy's a solid 8.5 on the Scotty scale. The crust was on point and for a Quad City style nice and crispy. The sauce was actually plentiful and tasty. The sausage your basic ground QC style.

Sher and I both agreed the veggies were kind of a let down. The mushrooms were canned. The onions kinda raw. The green peppers were pre cooked, but tasted okay. So we gave a few dings for that. But overall Poor Boy's was your average QC Style pizza. But I was in the mood for that and the vibe there was fun and we had a good time.

As always. It's pizza ,so there is that!

Cocktail time.

So. I got my back scratched the other day. Now it's time I paid that forward a bit.

Seems our blog has caught the attention of  another blog. I never really set out to do much more than give friends and family some cheap entertainment and try out all kinds of pizza's. Whether they are frozen, takeout or actually going out to new places.

I'll still be the same ole dope writing crappy prose about beautiful pizza! Um pizza.

What does Incubus have to do with a QC Pizza blog update? This song is called Stellar. Stellar is the pizza we had just a short while ago. The def of Stellar is "exceptionally good, outstanding.

A small digression if I might. We finally went to my daughter Zoey's name sake pizzeria in Marion Iowa today. A pic of my beautiful daughter.

Okay on with the show. Zoey's Pizzeria has long been on my radar. Probably before there was an internet I was aware of Zoey's but for some reason just have never gotten my crap together enough to make the drive.

A few pics. The old part of Marion has a real nice small town vibe and I was shocked at how big the Cedar Rapids area has gotten!

Some pics from inside.

The menu. Pretty small, but it doesn't matter. We came for the zza.

Now. Onto the star of this show and I "DO" mean star!!!!!!!
We ordered a large double sausage and pepperoni.  I knew before I took a bite this was gonna be a great pizza. I could see some coming out of the kitchen and oh boy. Taste bud's watering.

The real star of Zoey's pizza is the crust. Yeah I said the crust. The best crust yours truly has ever had and I've had a lot of pizza over my 52 years. So crunchy. Such a good nut flavor too. The sausage, pepperoni and cheese outstanding. My only real nit is the sauce. Could have used just a little more on the pizza, but just a small thing to not keep me away.

I'm gushing like my tweenage daughter does. I give this pizza a 9.8. There is no perfect pizza although this is as close as I have come to pizza perfection.

Moll gives it a 10 !
Not sure what Sher thinks although she will will surely chime in, in the comment section.

Two pieces left and we decided we needed more of this heaven on earth. So we ordered a small sausage to go. Now that's love.

Guess what's for a late night snack and or breakfast? Yes please.

Final thoughts. If you are ever near the greater Cedar Rapids/Marion area and even if you aren't. Do yourself a favor and hit up Zoey's Pizzeria in Marion Iowa. I'll say this. This is probably in my top 3 of all time pizza's. I've had a lot of good pizza. I've had a few great pizza's. Had quite a few crappy ones too.

Just go!

And now time for a cocktail.
Cheers.
