The Beatles had it right. They say it's my birthday yes it is.This post will probably be rather ramshackle and all over the place and pizza will probably be secondary to the fun.

I've been wanting to go back and revisit Huckleberry's in downtown Rock Island.Called out the family and they came.

The obligatory rum shot.Lucy approves.

We stayed off of Harrison and went down Division.

Not sure what in the heck this was,but will resemble my colon tomorrow morning.Fire!

Okay on  to Rock Island.

Now as to the pizza. In all honesty we had been to Huckleberry's earlier this year.So I wanted to try a different crust and well the whole family kinda took over any thoughts of a coherent blog post, plus I front loaded heavily before we left anyways.

A few more family pics.I love them all.

Now it's time for food.As it was a free for all I didn't get some appetizers nor these chips.Where the hell did these chips come from?

I am not reserved,I digress.

The whole point of this blog is the pizza and I only got one good pic.

Be that as it may.It was my birthday and I didn't put much effort into this post.As always Huckleberry's Pizza is top notch. It's a little pricey but you will get a good tasting pizza.I will say this visit we did order the thin crust and it was great.I have almost a whole pizza waiting in the fridge as leftovers!

My bro in law Larry ate all of his spaghetti and my plate was clean.

With that.A few hugs and such.

And somewhere over the rainbow.

Final thoughts.Huckleberry's is great pizza. We have now had both the thinner crust and the deep dish. Will we make it regular stop? Probably not, because as I said it's pretty pricey.Don't let that stop you though. It's definitely a change of pace from the regular QC Style pizza offerings.Would I lie to you all?

Cheers!

To quote Van Halen. We had a different kind of truth when it comes to Quad City type pizza. We had a pizza from this wonderful lady today.

http://www.eastsidebakerydavenport.com/

A total non typical Quad City Pizza Blog road trip. This is not any type of pizza we have had recently at all.I don't mean that in a bad way.Just different.

I got a haircut today and well overdue I must say.The dog approves.

Yeah.Lucy has an overbite.

And some tomfoolery.

Down Harrison St. The Hilltop area in Davenport is really coming around.New business's,housing and redoing the street.

Now on with the show.
The lady that runs the Eastside Bakery. Her name is Nikki.Give her your money.

The pizza is great!

Then we stopped at The Pizza Shack for some kick ass wings! We do love Pizza Shack and someday we will do a blog from there, anyways.

And then the aftermath.

Final thoughts.Moll,Sher and I agreed this is not a normal type of QC type pizza. This pizza tasted like something maybe my mom or your mom might bake at home. The sausage, cheese and sauce just kicked ass.Alas, the crust is always the weak point.and it was good, just under baked.I have harped on this point with almost every blog post.Cook the crust longer!

We give the East Side Bakery an 8 on the Scotty scale of pizza.Different enough to comment on.Give the East Side your business. She does other bakery goods also!

That said.Sheri,Mollie and I do this because we love pizza and we love to entertain you all.
