Hello old friend

A long time favorite of ours has closed both Quad City locations and relocated.

Long time readers know we love Tony's Pizza. Tony's was originally in Moline and then opened up another location in Davenport.

Well times being what they are. Tony's closed their Davenport store earlier this spring. And now Tony's closed their original location and relocated to downtown Moline. They have been open for a bit so we thought it time to check out the new digs.

A quick aside. The new I-74 bridge between Bettendorf and Moline is just awesome. This bridge just makes crossing the river so nice.

Let's go!

Tony's new digs.

A cool building across the street. This building has a restaurant called Meli's Pancake House. Looks pretty damn cool. This whole block has Lopiez Pizza/Analog Arcade. Lagomarcinos Ice Cream shop. Bent River Brewery. I highly suggest everyone visit Moline's 5th Ave. All kinds of fun stuff down here.

Okay. Tony's.

Menu.

As is my wont. I front loaded some whiskey. And then had to use the bathrooms. We arrived around 530pm and Tony's was rather busy on a Sunday afternoon.

For a busy Sunday afternoon and being a new operation. I can't grouse about the bathroom too much.

Let's get to the food.

Our family dynamic when it comes to these visits has been Me. Mollie and my wife Sheri since 2016. This visit is the same ,but Moll is now a senior in high school and has a more discerning taste.

Moll now has more input in our ordering. She wanted a lot of stuff. The basic rings, chicken, mozza and raviola with(ugh) ranch dressing.

Am I getting boring in my dotage? I hope not cause there is fire coming from Tony's oven.

After the basic appetizers. We ordered a medium deep dish sausage and pepperoni.

At this point in this post. I must be completely honest. I have never been much of a deep dish pizza kinda guy. I mean I love pizza in all forms, but deep dish chicago style et al I called pizza cake.

Whether it be the doughy crust. Under cooked sauce and toppings.

Here is were I am wrong today. Tony's deep dish has a nice crispy buttery crust. Toppings were on point. Sheri says Tony's sausage is straight fire! Tony's sauce is so sweet. Next time I will go for a thin crust.

As an added bonus. Some very good friends of ours showed up as we were leaving.

Love you Johnnie and Laurie!

So? How does the new Tony's in downtown Moline taste? Just as good as their old locations. My wife loves deep dish pizza and says Tony's is the bomb.

Would I lie to you all?

Sher,Moll and I give Tony's Pizza in downtown Moline a solid 9. It's been awhile since we have had Tony's. We missed you.

It's that good. and while we were there. There was a solid stream of people coming thru the doors.
