A blast from the past!

It has been a few months since we have done a blog post. A place over in Silvis has caught my eye and no it's not Franks Pizza either. Although Franks is the nee plus ultra of Quad City style pizza and I'll fight ya about it too.

I'm not sure if I have ever said we don't do franchise joints updates. Sure we will sometimes get a Dominos or Caseys. But we like to support our local joints.

But today we visited a place that used to have a few Quad City locations. Now it has only one left.

Just because.

So this is the last Godfathers in the QC area.It is over by John Deere Rd And Avenue Of The Saints.

It's not a long way from Eldridge..

The pizza. A mini taco and a medium Humble Pie

This pizza is great! A long line of carry out and drive thru. We will be going back!

Another Mexican eatery enters the ring.

A newer Mexican restaurant had opened up in a location that just seems to have a lot of turnover. I suspect this place will be around for awhile.

El Compita. It's in the old Dudley's Pizza on east Kimberly and Eastern.

I think we visited here in mid May. Right before my daughters graduation.

The menu is quite extensive.

As usual I had imbibed a few cocktails. Let's check out the bathroom. This is only the men's bathroom mind you. Not very clean. Ranks right up there in my grody bathroom hall of fame. Ugh.

The food, however was outstanding! I can't remember what we all got. I ordered some sort of seafood enchilada with a cream sauce on it. It was great. Matter of fact the Chicken Strip Whisperer was overwhelmed with decisions.

Will we go back? Indeed we will. El Compita had some menu choices that a lot of other places don't have.

A couple of quick hits

Seems a few blog posts got put way on the backburner.  A high school graduation and various vacations put me way behind on postings. And frankly my enthusiasm wanes in the warmer months.

Anyways.

We have been out and about to some new places. This blog will be pretty sparse on info too.

Fist up is a newish place located inside of Rustic Ridge Golf Course in Eldridge ,Ia.

CC&B Kitchen

We visited here in late April.

We weren't real thrilled about the menu. Seems what was listed they either didn't have or it was served on a different day. Very dissappointing. I think we got some sort of Philly Cheesesteak. And it was just mediocre. Sher got a beef brisket that was tough and chewy.

Will we go back? Not likely and I wanted to like it too.

Next up!

The Park View Cafe in Park View Ia.

For some reason I didn't take hardly any pictures.

Sher ordered the chicken fried steak. She said it was kinda "meh"

I on the other hand ordered Walleye and it was tasty. I do love me some fried fish.

We will most likely try the Park View Cafe sometime for breakfast.

You have driven by this place so many times

One of the busiest intersections in the entire State of Iowa. There has been a restaurant at the corner of Kimberly and Brady Streets in Davenport like forever.

Back in the day it was a Ground Round. Remember? Peanut shells on the floor. The glass window in front? It's still there too.

Went there quite a few times, but we are talking almost 35 to 40 years ago.

Be that as it may. This building is still standing and has had a few different restaurants in it. I can't recall any of their names because it seems they never have lasted that long.

The Costa Del Mar is one of many Mexican restaurants in the greater QC area. We are truly blessed with so many dining choices when it comes to Mexican food around here too.

We have been to Costa Del Mar a few times. This picture shows the front window a bit. My family and I enjoying a post Thanksgiving meal two years ago. We certainly had fun too!

Okay. On with blog.

Costa Del Mar sits right at the intersection of Kimberly and Brady.

As is my wont. I had a few cocktails. Time to check out the bathroom. The men's room was spotless

Costa Del Mar has a wide and varied menu. Featuring a lot of seafood dishes to.

The obligatory chips and salsa.

I think the Chicken  Strip Whisperer and I got Chimichangas. Sher got some sort of burrito.  The food was fresh and tasty, hence why we go there so much.

So check this place out sometime. The staff is friendly and courteous. The menu has something for everyone.

One last vid. Don't be a Stranger to Costa Del Mar.
