Aye Captain!

My hooching tends more towards that demon rum.

What the heck does Scotty from Star Trek have to do with QC Style Pizza? Well my nickname has always been Scotty and I'm a total Star Trek nerd.

That said. My middle daughter finally decided to give me my birthday present. She's only a month late, but I digress.

And here's my present!

Haven't had the chance to use it yet,but I'll be sure and document!

Fall Road Trips

I hear those pizza voices inside my head
All of them just want to talk to you
I'll be right here anytime at all

I'm not sure where this posting is going nor where we will end up. I've always been a sucker for road tripping when the leaves turn and there is nip(s) in the air.

That said. I'm plotting out a few pizza related trips to incorporate leaf peeping and rum drinking. Makes sense to me.

What I'm going to do here is just put up some links to joints I think have some Scotty tomfoolery potential. Okay? Ok!

They say it's your birthday!

Who's birthday tho? We are not sure.

Well actually we do. This time of year it's my youngest tweenager. Moll is turning 12 shortly. We did pizza for her.Pics shortly.

And. I'd like to say. Happy Birthday to my Dad. The guy that turned me on to pizza. My Dad,would travel for pizza everywhere.

His love for pizza has followed me down thru the years. I might actually love pizza more than he does, but that is worth a debate.

Happy Birthday Dad! Love You!

Yours truly getting in the mood!

So we have been wanting to visit Falbo's in downtown Davenport.

We finally did. Although I thought the service sucked right off the get go.

Moll told me to chill. I don't chill well at all,I digress. The baby of the family still loves her dada!

So anyways. Boston Terrier chill.

Can't forget mama!

Pizza time!

So how was the pizza at Falbo's? Outstanding! I was not impressed with the pizza time out of the oven. The service seemed to lack although when the pizza did come out,all was forgiven.

I'd rank this pizza right up with Tony's. Pagalo's and Huckleberry's.

Falbo's Pizza kicked ass! I was not happy with their service. But I'll overlook that. The pizza was outstanding.

I give Falbo's a solid 9. For taste alone. Service was kinda lame. Can't overlook that. Too many pizza places vying for dollars. Act like you want my money. Falbo's staff didn't seem to give a shit.

No 6th Avenue Heartache here.

With the wife driving home from one of the best days I've had in a long long time last night. This song kept coming to me. Lyrics sure had some resonance or maybe it was the rum I was drinking.

Another song,another mile
And on a good day, well I know it ain't every day
And on a bad day, well I know it ain't every day
Tired but wiser for the time

This weekend is shaping up to just be one of my best.
You ask,why Scotty is this weekend going to be awesome?

I'll tell you why.
I got to meet a great man yesterday and eat righteous chicken wings and hear kick ass blues tunes.

Today a pizza eating opportunity fell in my lap.

Here goes. The wife had told me we were supposed to meet the family at The 11 St Precinct in the East Village for lunch. I wasn't feeling it(mild hangover) lol. But she insisted I attend.

So on with the show.

Lo and be hold they had pizza on the menu.

Everyone else ordered grilled tenderloins,I didn't. Got a small double sausage.

How was the pizza? I give it an 8.8. The star of this show was the sausage. Big thick chunky and way spicy. I said it had some zip on it. The cheese was plentiful. The crust was nice and thin and had a good crunch that I love. The sauce was the weakness here. Just kinda plain, but in no way took away how good this pizza was. Coulda been baked a few more minutes too. As always it seems these joints always want to rush the pizza out of the oven.

A kickass car.

A few more street scenes.

And more to come tomorrow. Taking my tweenager out for what else for her birthday? Pizza, duh.

Truly feeling blessed.Good food. Good friends (could use a few more too). And lastly a great family.

Cheers and it's cocktail time!

Cheese Pizza?

Haze Lee Finn. Lead singer from Cheese Pizza.

So you're thinking, allrighty. Scotty is doing his usual video with some el stupido comments thrown in right? Wrong.

A word of warning. This blog post will more than likely ramble all over the damn place and I'll tell you why.

So the wife and I have a good friend and her boyfriend living over in Peru Illinois. They invited us to go see this band that was playing at their favorite place to eat.

Ron and Gail.

As it turns out. The band called Cheese Pizza's lead singer is Lee Pakula. He and his wife Keegan owns Haze Smokehouse in Peru Ill.

Well we did not see Cheese Pizza. I was there to see one of my favorite guitarist. Chris Duarte!!!!!!

Yes. That Chris Duarte. Now I need to back up a wee bit (I told you this post would ramble!)

Right around ten years ago I was in Davenport doing something I can't even remember what. On the radio came a short blurb that Chris Duarte would be stopping at West Music to play an off the cuff midday show there.

Tell you what,I boogied on home and told the wife I was going right back to Dport. Had to grab a chair and mix a cocktail.

Chris and I ten years ago. And a lot of pounds skinnier.

At this point I should talk about pizza right? Wrong. I did not (gasp) eat pizza.

What I did get were smoked chicken wings that blew my mind! Never had those before and yours truly could get hooked on them in short order, they were that good.

The wife,Gail and her friends ordered off the menu.

A decent booze selection. I frontloaded on the way there and just had some macro swill beer.

Didn't get any good food pics.

Too be honest I'm not much of a BBQ fan. But the pulled pork I tried off Sher's plate was tasty!

Not with a ten foot pole!

Now as to why we drove over to Lasalle last night. To see Chris and hopefully get to gab for a second.

Mission accomplished thanks to Gail!

And then. After ten years Chris even remembered talking to me at West Music!

Had a good five minute chat with the bass player too!

One more from my crappy camera.

At this point I must thank Gail for inviting us. Sher and I had a great time. Thanks doll, not sure you know how much fun I had!

As for me? I'm still gushing like my tweenage daughter that got to meet once again an awesome guitarist and most of all just a really nice guy that doesn't act the rock star.

Final thoughts. Obviously not really a pizza blog post, but more of one of those life events we sometimes have happen to us.I'm still on cloud 9!

Did I mention how great the wings were? They were and I'll be back for more of them too.
