It's that weird week of Thanksgiving. So much going on.So little time for anything.
We didn't feel like cooking this Sunday. But in the mood for some south of the border funny's.
That said. There is a newer Tex/Mex restaurant in Eldridge called Cabo's, hence the VH reference!
Let's check it out. Full disclosure. We have been there once before a few months ago. The service and plating was new and a little shaky. Thought we would try it again.
A good ole Sailor Jerry rum cocktail.
We always have a little Thanksgiving light display.
I didn't get a lot of good pics. Enjoy the ride.
After that meal. The wife wanted some Freddy Fender. Who am I to argue? Tex Mex food.
Okay. Eldridge finally has a decent Mex/American style taco joint. There has been a Rudy's out here forever, but Cabo's is just a little different.
I'll give Cabo's a 6.5. Not bad but not real great. For kick ass Mexican I suggest La Rancherita in Rock Island or any other joints in Moline/E Molins/Silvis area.
One more vid before a Turkey blog update.
Earache My Eye! Get some!!!!! Happy Holidays my pizza loving friends.
So yesterday was the wife and my 12 years of wedded bliss. What better way to celebrate that than having pizza? We could have done steak or any other thing, but that's not us.
So. Which leads me here to a little VH.
Take me back indeed.
My fave place in the QC finally reopened after being closed for the last few months.
Tony's!!
Let's get to it. Might have poured that rum a wee bit strong.
Goofing.
The kid didn't want pizza. I did. She got chicken al Sher and I got a Tony's special. A Tony's special is sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. I always double order sausage at Tony's.
Dessert and leftovers. A hunk of cheesecake and a cannoli. I had a small bite of the cannoli and wow. Pretty surgary.
Somebody else hoping something gets dropped.
Final thoughts. This wasn't a real QC Pizza update. We have tried to visit a different pizza joint for each blog update. But this was our anniversary and we went to our favorite pizza place in the entire QC. Yeah. This is our fave. Do your self a favor and visit Tony's on West Kimberly in Davenport.
One of those days. I look forward to these few October weeks every year. Alas the weather Gods pissed all over my road trip, leaf viewing and pizza plans.
There is always next week, but seems next weekend might be crapola too.
So. All is not lost. There is always a fall back plan in our pizza life. Nothing that some Corey Stevens on guitar can't soothe.
On with the show.
I've been waiting to bust out my birthday t-shirt I got a few months ago. Sailor Jerry Rum hitting the spot. It's no secret I love sci-fi and spooky movies. Ask the kid ,she digs The Green Slime.
Since the wife, kid and I started this blog we have tried not to repeat visit any pizza joint. We have for the most part adhered to that, although I think we have hit Huckleberry's twice,I digress.
But. And always there is that but. I'll explain. The wife recently had some surgery and is still on the mend. One of her sisters got her a gift certificate for some pizza. Who am I to go against a repeat visit when free pizza is paid for?
So the sister got Sher a gift certificate to Fields Of Pizza. They have two locations, both on the Avenue Of The Cities on the Illinois side of the river.
Still raining. This is the Fields Of Pizza in Moline. We did not go there.
And here we are.
As I had front loaded heavily I had to visit the bathroom pronto. Fairly clean.Might as well get this part of the review over with early.
The menu.
Time for some goofing off. Good times. We try.
Okay. On with the show. If one has followed this blog. I made mention the very first time we visited and I said the chicken smelled sinful coming out of the kitchen. Sher and I made good to try some chicken.
Dang and I must say the chicken was and is as good as I smelled it the first time!!!!!!
Moll got her usual chicken strips and fries.
Sher ordered a small pepperoni and I got a small sausage.
This.
The remains.
A few more shots.
The wife ,kid and I have agreed that Fields Of Pizza in East Moline pretty much is our gold standard when it comes to QC Style pizza..
I understand that QC style pizza is not everyone's cup of tea and I get that. Hell,I am always on the lookout for different style of pizza around here. But I still love pizza no matter what.
So. I'm gonna give Fields Of Pizza a 8.9 on the Scotty scale. The pizza could have had a little more sauce.
The chicken on the other hand was a home run right out of the park and a solid 10!!!. So good and I could just go there for the chicken and I think the wife would agree with me on that.
On that note. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love Halloween and this time of year.
I dug out his old costume shirt from a few years ago and it still (ahem)fits!
