Goin Crazy! And not from the heat.

Aren't we all right now? I know I am. Strangely enough my 15 year old is the only sane one in the house right now. The wife is on a cleaning kick. I've mowed the yard, took a quick motorcycle ride. And I'm still feeling something amiss.

So this whole semi lock down we are all going through right now doesn't let us get out and about for pizza much. I guess we all just have to roll with this situation until life returns to normal And it sure better too.

One more song until we get to the zza! Let's all just stay frosty and move forward every day. Love your family. Take care of yourself. Check in on your inlaws and outlaws. Be nice to your neighbors.

Okay Scotty. How bout the whole point of this point. It's surely not just about David Lee Roth is it?

Why no it is not. I'm just in a DLR kinda mood.

Oh pizza you say. Okay.

So a new pizza joynt opened up in Eldridge right around when this virus started going around. Hall Of Fame Pizza from Dewitt opened up a take out operation on the main drag here in town right next to Ace Hardware.

https://dewittpizza.com/eldridge.html

We had been to the Hall Of Fame Pizza in Dewitt last year. Decent, but at the time we were still dealing with the wife's busted knee.

When we do take out pizza we usually do up homemade chicken wings. Buffalo and Honey Sweet Onion are today's wing coating of choice.

So we ordered a Ceasar Chicken Wrap with fries. A large Garden and a medium Wizard. Both pizza's were on thin crusts.

I had to have the QC Pizza Blog rum and coke first.

Hall Of Fame Pizza is in the Ace Hardware strip mall on east Leclaire in Eldridge.

A few inside pics.

Hall Of Fame in Eldridge was busy busy! Sheri had to call at least 57 times. That's okay. They are doing good business and I will tell you why.

Why? Cause their pizza is great! We have fallen in love with the thin crust they have. Pics?

So Mollie ordered a chicken ceasar wrap with fries. She thought it was pretty good.

Hall Of Fame Eldridge Menu.

So to the pizza. Sheri ordered a Garden Pizza. Sausage,Pepperoni,Mushrooms.Onions and green acres.

I ordered the Todd Rundgren Wizzard Pizza.

Hall Of Fame has knocked it right out of the park here in Eldridge!

So what do I think?

Seriously. This is a good addition to the Eldridge area food choices.. Thin crust off the hook!

Good times.

Shedding Off One More Layer Of Skin

The wife had won a gift card last year sometime for a newish place over in Bettendorf. Hey 25 bucks is a good start for a meal.

A musical interlude before I get going.

If this song isn't a clue. Let me explain. So we have a gift card to the Tangled Wood over in Bettendorf.

https://thetangledwood.com/

Now The Tangled Wood appears to have a rather diverse menu. Burgers,Sandwiches,BBQ and Pizza plus more.

You know me. I'm going to try the pizza. The Wife and kid aren't quite sure what they are getting.

Let's go!

Btw. The is one of those fake phony weather days where it is well above normal temps. I've seen people out in shorts and flip flops already
Supposed to snow Tuesday,I digress.

Cocktail time. The wife and I have been working too many hours.

Upon arrival.

Some type of bicycle rack and air pump.

The bathroom. Men's only and it was pretty clean for 430 pm on a Sunday afternoon mid winter. Although I did say the weather was fooling us all.

A few interior shots. While we were the fairly early it was nice and quiet. I like that compared to some boot scoot and boogie places.

The menu. Some things on there I will go back and try.

Okay. On with the food. I mean isn't this why you read this blog? I've got to say a few things right now. I tend to read alot of reviews. Whether they be good or bad it's how we play the game.Right? I mean who wants to waste money on  food anymore?

I had read the yelp's and tripadvisor for The Tangled Wood. Mostly middling and underwhelming. Service and such lacking. Thoughts down page.

The food.

Moll ordered a Californian sandwich. Turkey, bacon, advado, lettuce and garlic.

Sher got the breaded tenderloin.

I got pizza(duh). A Tavern Style thin crust sausage and pepperoni.

A few pics of us sharing and caring.

The outside patio area.

The to go pizza box. I have never seen a box like this ever!

Final thoughts. I'm like you all. I want to get some value for my dining dollars. A gift certificate helped us out today.

Reading some reviews I had my doubts of this place in Bettendorf.

Let me say. I loved the Tangled Wood.

The breaded tenderloin was as good as we have had any where around here, except for maybe Breitbach's battered tenderloin. I'll go back just for a tenderloin.

Moll loved her sandwich.

The zza?

The crust was almost, almost as good as Zoey's in Marion Ia. The sausage was not QC Style ground. But similar in a way. The cheese was the surprise. A lot of it and not skimpy.

The only ding was the sauce. Needs just a little more kick to it.

Overall I am happy today with our visit to The Tangled Wood. We did see other food coming out of the kitchen that looked good too.

So. I had my doubts. The joke was on me.

Driving home. We saw this cloud. Crappy pic,but it sort of looked like an angel if you squint really hard and believe.

Thanks for tagging along today. It was a good one with the promise of warmer days, patio time, family and some live music coming our way.

A steady diet of gov't cheese!

Now well what do you want to do with your life?

Well duh. I just want to eat pizza!

Lol. So our last update from last year kind of went sideways on us, gift certificate fail.

Well it's time to try again. This time we are heading to Van's location in downtown Davenport. We have now been to the Harrison St and Bettplex Van's. We shall see what the trifecta brings us.

So might as well head down by the river. Feeling kinda grungy today for my musical selections.

https://www.vanspizza.net/

I had intentions of doing this blog post mid January. We did drive downtown only to find out that Van's was having their company Christmas party that day. ARRRRRRGGGHHHH!

I'm beginning to think this gift card has a curse upon it..

As ever let us endeavor to persevere. We'll try again. I mean I've got a gift certificate to use.

Let's go!

It's supposed to be some Tom Petty Full Moon Fever tonite. The moon is bright.

The downtown Van's. The downtown scene tonite was happening. All kinds of people out for the car show. The Adler Theater had something going on to.

I had front loaded as usual.

Van's bathroom was pretty dang clean for a Saturday. We got there around 6ish so the bathrooms haven't been slaughtered yet.

I started this blog in 2016 of some month and my then 10 year old enjoyed playing along. Going on 15 years old. This is what I get.

Oh well. She's been a good sport. And her palate is still chicken tenders for the most part!

Van's menu. I gotta start taking better pictures too.

So we ordered A small Taco. A medium double sausage. And the old Pat McGuires Nacho's. Van's took over the Pat McGuires on Harrison St.

 Your's truly.

So? We have now completed the Van's Quad City Trifecta. I've gotta say. I love Van's Pizza. Van's thin crust is as good as there is around the Quad Cities.

The old Pat McGuires nacho's were off the hook.

Hopefully this blog get's going again. Stops. Starts. Aches. Pains. As always life does get in the way of fun, but.

Tonite we had a good time.

I hope you all follow along with us you faithful readers.

Scotty

BTW. Since we were down by the river.
