To quote Van Halen. We had a different kind of truth when it comes to Quad City type pizza. We had a pizza from this wonderful lady today.
http://www.eastsidebakerydavenport.com/
A total non typical Quad City Pizza Blog road trip. This is not any type of pizza we have had recently at all.I don't mean that in a bad way.Just different.
I got a haircut today and well overdue I must say.The dog approves.
Yeah.Lucy has an overbite.
And some tomfoolery.
Down Harrison St. The Hilltop area in Davenport is really coming around.New business's,housing and redoing the street.
Now on with the show.
The lady that runs the Eastside Bakery. Her name is Nikki.Give her your money.
The pizza is great!
Then we stopped at The Pizza Shack for some kick ass wings! We do love Pizza Shack and someday we will do a blog from there, anyways.
And then the aftermath.
Final thoughts.Moll,Sher and I agreed this is not a normal type of QC type pizza. This pizza tasted like something maybe my mom or your mom might bake at home. The sausage, cheese and sauce just kicked ass.Alas, the crust is always the weak point.and it was good, just under baked.I have harped on this point with almost every blog post.Cook the crust longer!
We give the East Side Bakery an 8 on the Scotty scale of pizza.Different enough to comment on.Give the East Side your business. She does other bakery goods also!
That said.Sheri,Mollie and I do this because we love pizza and we love to entertain you all.

Just a quick update. There are a few new pizza places popping up around the Quad Cities.
Johnny's Pizza and Slices on Brady St.
http://www.johnnyspizzaandslices.com/
We will be trying Johnny's shortly.Another place I have been driving by is on the West Kimberly and Division St area by Walgreens is a place called Millz (sp?) Pizza. They aren't open but we will be giving them a visit sometime.
And this is where we are getting pizza tonite.Seems to be a rather small operation.I have heard good things and there will be an update later.

As always.

Well hello! It's been awhile since we have posted.Too many home projects since the end of April have had us busy. Now that I have spent all my kids college funds it's time to get back to what I love, pizza!
So with that said.We wanted to try something different and different is what we got.Perusing my Quad Cities Dining Guide a pizza place in Milan Illinois had been on my pizza radar for a long time.
Pagalo's Pizza.
On with the show.Yours truly and things got a little hazy right after this pic.
A few travel pics. Not sure what the dog has to do with this blog but she does like her pizza too.
Okay.Onto the star of this post, the pizza!
As I said earlier. We have been super duper busy.Getting by with some Casey's Pizza and maybe one Happy Joe's trip and slumming with some Jack's frozen.
Rolling in. And a few mugshots.Pagalo's has a wood fired oven and the pizza chef let me take a few up close pictures.
Some time out tomfoolery.
Now it's time for the star of this show. The pizza! We ordered a small Taco and a large Parkers Pizza Pie.
So.You are all asking me,Scotty. How was Pagalo's Pizza?
I say fantastic!Totally different from our normal for the area Quad City style pizza. The crust was chewy. The sauce was nice and sweet. And the chunky sausage was such a change of pace from the standard ground baby food QC style sausage.I'm not sure how the Taco pizza tasted.I only ate a few doritos off of Moll's plate. Not a taco pizza kinda guy.But Moll gave it up thumbs up,so there is that.
With all of that said.Sheri and I give Pagalo's a solid 9.5 on the Scotty scale of pizza. It was that good.We will fo sho be going over the river to visit again.
On the way home we stopped at Alfano's to take a few pics.On the radar, but Al's is really just a take out place so it has been low down on the pizza radar.Someday we will just drive over and pick some pizza's up.
Final thoughts.Pagalo's was great.Worth the drive if only because it is different from the standard Harris,Frank's et al QC pizza.
Would I lie to you about pizza?I don't think so.
After we got home I poured another Black Velvet and things got hazy!
Next road trip is going to be some traveling. We are kicking around Iowa City or a Cedar Rapids jaunt. Not sure where we end up,but.
Cheers!
