On the advice of my lovely daughter Zoey, she gave me heads up about a semi local frozen pizza maker.

I had never heard of Butch's Pizza ,but she swears by this pizza. So as the ever slave to pizza that I am.I Googled up Butch's website and emailed them the closest location to my house that I could acquire said pizza.

Well it didn't take long for a reply. The Hy-Vee on East 53rd St in Davenport stocks Butch's. So I was on a mission in the crappy weather we are having. I will be buying all of my frozen pizza throwdown pizza's from here. Sheri and I counted at least ten pizza's that would fit into my really dumb idea.

That said I will be cooking a Butch's tonite.Sheri is trying out a frozen Geno's East deep dish. It's in the oven now.

Butch's Pizza.

And the Geno's East deep dish.

This is what the Geno's East and the Butch's pizza looked like out of the oven.

This post is just a teaser for the Frozen Pizza Throwdown coming up up after Christmas! It's going to be fun and I hope you all enjoy it too.

We will of course be going out and about for a real sit down pizza experience. The weather just is not cooperating today.Probably Sunday for a real review.

Cheers!

Sheri,Moll,Lucy and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Lucy is getting in the spirit.

It's been over two months since the last update. Seems there is always a push/pull around the start of the holiday season and I include Halloween in that for time and money. We last went to Johnny's Pizza on Brady St around the first of October.

Of course we have had the odd Casey's, Happy Joe's whatever, but haven't been able to do a good road trip pizza review.

Hopefully this weekend the weather is better than last weekend, but it's looking iffy once again. We are still planning a full pizza blog restaurant review this weekend(maybe)lol.

On that note. The dog and I shall be left to our own devices the week after Christmas up to New Years Eve.

I've been kicking around the idea of a frozen pizza throwdown the week I am Home Alone.

What I plan to do is eat a different frozen pizza each night for five or six days and document the mayhem. Hopefully there is a house for Sheri and Mollie to come home to. So give me you favorite frozen pizza's. I will be buying these pizza's from my local West Kimberly Hy-Vee.

Thinking. Some of these listed below.

Home Run Inn
Screaming Sicilian
Bellatori's
Mama Bosso's
Et al

Merry Christmas!

It's been a bit since Sher and I got some pizza. There has been a New York style pizza joint on our radar. We finally decided to visit Johnny's.
http://www.johnnyspizzaandslices.com/

I am going to say that this style of pizza is not my fave right off the bat.I am in favor of the Frank's type and I'm sure I have never said otherwise..
That said.

We were curious.I have been in touch with some QC'ers that had been at Johnnies.

Yeah that is rum I am drinking.
So we had to call Johnnies for some basic info about how
they made pizza and their sausage terms.Sausage is really important to me.

Getting the pizza home and we have a gigantic box. This is not your normal box.

That pizza is as big as my stove!

Okay on with the pizza.alas.The pizza(while awesome looking)was just okay.Tasted good.was good.

The crust was great. The sausage had good flavor.Sher said the Taco pizza ranked right up there. My gripe was the sauce.I would have gave Johnnie's at least a 8.5 if the sauce had some flavor.Alas there was no flavor to the sauce.

So.Would I tell you to east some Johnnie's Pizza? Yes I would.Filling.But the sauce. The sauce is the weak link.

A buzz kill.Everything else about Johnnie's was great!Work on the sauce!

I'll give Johnnie's a 7.5 on the Scotty scale of pizza.

Cheers!

I must confess. We have been in a  little bit of a lull.Having fun doing summer time things and such.Haven't had a decent post since my birthday in late July.

Summer is winding down and we are trending towards putting the pool away and getting the fire pit out.

That said.Chicken wings and Pizza Shack pizza hit the spot for the annual Hawkeye/Cyclone football game

Cooking chicken wings pregame. My wings kick ass!

Lucy enjoying some early fall sunshine.

Picking up the pizza.

Safe and sound in the Frontier.

Home.

I think I have mentioned many times I am no fan of Taco pizza. The wife and kid love it,so there are usually two pizza's we buy and eat.Sher and Moll ate almost all of the Shack's Taco pizza.I on the other hand will be eating a sausage and pepperoni.Good stuff.

One more pic.

I'm pretty sure I have said that the Pizza Shack is our go to QC Style pizza joynt when we are in a hurry.

Is the Shack the best? No,but it ranks right up with the Bill's,Frank's,Harris's whatever.I give The Pizza Shack two thumbs up just because they put out a consistent QC type zza.

So there is actually a new pizza blog update.Although I was in bed and did not get to participate in the most recent exploits.

My parents came down from God's(TM) Country ie Clayton County to visit some friends in Pearl City Iowa.

Sher and Moll met up with parents ,friends and other assorted associates of our tribe.

The gathering spot was at Port City Underground in beautiful downtown Muscatine Iowa.

I can't give much of a review.I was sleeping after all,but my leftover pizza litmus test gives Port City a thumbs up.This was more of a family get together, but we had been there a few years ago.

We will have to visit again sometime for an in depth review as only we can do.As an aside we do know the owners of said Port City.Lacy,Diane,Andy and the rest of the gang,I'm sorry I couldn't be there.

Downtown Muscatine is pretty cool now days. Although back in the day I hit Boonies to see Lynn Allen quite a bit.Seems like a long time ago.

The pizza.

A family pic.And Har is doing okay.My ole man,Moll and sister Angela.

And Grandma G.

Go check out Port City Underground.

Cheers!

We are kind of in that mid summer lull.Trying to enjoy summer and whatnot.I found this funny little cartoon.I just prefer to nuke leftover zza and roll the dice. School is starting up next week so maybe we can get some sort of routine going, although high school football will be competing for my pizza dollars.

Stay tuned! Of course we will be venturing forth.Just might be some gaps in our updates, but that's why you all stick around with baited(pizza)breath!

Cheers.
