Bring your own Lampshade!

On a roll I know. The wife is slowly becoming healthy again. Spring is here and I actually had to bust out the lawnmower today.

Moll has a visiting friend over and we were stumped where to go. Thirteen and fourteen  year old girls would rather titter, giggle and want chicken tenders.

So Moll and her buddy Maddie decided a 30 piece and fries were what they wanted. Makes my heart warm to see Moll have her best friend over that had to move away due to circumstances. They get to visit about every three months.

Lucy is not impressed.

Cheap advertising? I don't care. I'm not a girl. They wanted this and for the wife and I to leave. They have important girl things to discuss.

Okay. On with the show. As usual. We wrangled and wrestled where to eat. Our first stop was packed and I said I'm not waiting 45 minutes for a table.

But,that was a good thing. Because rightly so. Sheri and I found our newest bestest favorite pizza in the Quad Cities and I am not lying!

The Treehouse. It's down on East Kimberly around the Home Depot area.

https://www.treehouseqc.com/

I've heard good and bad things about this place and have been by a million times.

What I can say having had the pizza is that it is my newest favorite pizza in the entire QC area.

I do not say that lightly. Those of you that really know me know I take pizza like life and death.

The bathroom was okay.

Alas I did not get any pics of the menu. Although go to the link I provided all is revealed.

And. It's not Heinz. It's not Hunts. It's French's ketchup. I can't recall the last time I have seen this ketchup ever. Dang tasty too!

Let's get to it. I had perused the Treehouse's menu before and I had a pretty good idea of what I and Sheri would order.

Full confession time. Lately we have split our QC Pizza Blog time between pizza and breaded Tenderloins.

So that is what we got.

Well?

Outstanding!!!!!!!

The tenderloin dare I say it rivals Stout's in Clinton. Meaty, moist with a perfect crunchy breading.

The pizza? Now. You all know my love for pizza. Right? Right.

I'll be right up font and say the Treehouse pizza has vaulted right up to Numero Uno as my favorite pizza in the Quad Cities.

A thin tavern style crust. Chunky sausage. Zippy sauce.Could have had a little more cheese, but that is nit pickin.

This pizza is off the hook awesome!

Final thoughts.

Bears. Wooden Bears.

Winter is over,I digress.

Final thoughts. The parking lot is steep. Don't fall down.

Let's get to the end.

Will Sher and I go back to The Treehouse Eatery? Heck yes. Sher has way different taste's in pizza and she loved Treehouse's pizza.

I am gushing like my 13 year old. The pizza is off the charts. The tenderloin rivals any thing around here. I count Stout's in Clinton as a fave. The Treehouse is just as good.

I can say. I had my reservations about The Treehouse Eatery. I'm like you all. I read all the online Yelp,Tripadvisor et al reviews.

My experience was just fine. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive. Drinks and food came out when they should have.

The owner? I had a quick ten second chat. I gave him a quick thumbs up.

On my Scotty scale of food?  I give The Treehouse a good solid 9.5 for everything. The pizza alone is well worth the visit.

Go there.

The world needs ditch diggers too!

Wow! Back to back blog updates. The wife is now walking with a cane and going back to work shortly. Hopefully our postings get back to where we were last year before everything turned to dreck.

Last week we were in Clinton County. Guess what? We are going back to Clinton County for another QC Pizza blog post. No pizza this week. My brother in law wanted us to celebrate his birthday with him at Bushwood Country Club in the greater Calamus Iowa area.

Okay it's not Bushwood where the swells hang out. It's Wapsi Oaks. My brothers in law love to golf. I learned long ago about a man and his limitations. My limitation is that I am (according to Charles Barkley) a turrible, turrible golfer. I gave it up to maintain my sanity and an incurable slice.

https://www.wapsioaks.com/

She's alright finally! Full confession. I just love the jam sessions at Darryl Hall's studio

The best part is the wife can now drive again. That means I get to pre cocktail before we go!

Cheers

The Mrs. You don't know how happy she is to be able to drive the Batmobile again. Can you imagine not being able to drive for 10 weeks or at all?

So, The whole point of this blog update was my brother in law Larry's birthday. He wanted for us to go to Wapsi Oaks for food. Food is what we got.

After a quick 25 minute jaunt from Eldridge to Calamus I had to use the bathroom. Nice and clean.

On with the food. In all honesty I did not get many pictures of food.

I will say.Wapsi Oaks menu is kick ass! I had my doubts. I shouldn't have. Calamus Iowa is kind of out in the proverbial nowhere. We ran into some dear friends of ours we hadn't seen in a few years. Kim and Kirby we need to reconnect!

The wife and I both ordered the same steak. A 14 ounce NY Strip. She had veggies. I had potato, baked.

I did not get many pics of the steak, but let me just say. Wapsi Oaks has seriously a great menu. Our steaks were cooked perfect. Great flavor. Great service.Great atmosphere too.

Sher and I agreed we would go back just for the steak. Seriously.

A bit of our family. My brother in law Larry couldn't be more of a friend and he loves us.

Obviously not a pizza oriented blog update. But. I repeat, but. If you are in the general vicinity of Calamus Iowa and wanting a steak. Wapsi Oaks has a great menu.A great bar. Great staff and food.

Would I steer you wrong? I can't.I can say Wapsi Oaks filled up quickly. that tells me people from around that area know where good food is.

I'm gonna give Wapsi Oaks a 9.5 on the Scotty scale of steak. We will go back there for the food and you should too!

She had been Sha Doobied!

So. Last time we had a blog post was late January. Seems awhile ago doesn't it? As last year went this year hasn't started out any better.

Mick can sing for a bit.

I'm not sure when this family got snake bit, but there it is. I had hoped to turn around our dreadful run of luck from broken bones, more broken bones and my inspiration for this this here blog.

A quick recap of the crap and hopefully we right this blog and steer it towards good times ahead.

Last summer the wife broke her wrist which put a damper on our postings and I was feeling burnt out on posting.

Before Christmas my dad passed away and  that really was a kick in the head.

And now? Well right after our first post of the year my wife fell and shattered her kneecap in five easy pieces.

To say that messed up our life is a mega understatement. Just figuring out how to take care of her and the total redoing of our family logistics has been a major pain in the butt and I'm not joking. That happened January 29th. We are just now starting to move forward with rehab and life.

A few busted knee pics.

Cue some Pat.

That said. And that will be the end of my whining about our crappy situation my fellow pizza lovers. You all don't want to hear about that stuff. I needed to say that, just because it has been our excuse.

You want pizza reviews, don't you? Yes you do. I knew you did.

So we are slowly going to get this blog back on track.

As is our little power trio of family dynamics,we can never ever really decide on a course of pizza action. I am usually down for some zza. The wife has been on a breaded tenderloin kick. And the 13 year old? She's a 13 year old girl. Need I say more about that? Lol.

Let's just say it can be trying, to figure out where to go and what to review somewhere.

Tonite we decided somewhere close. Baby steps my friends.

Going up HWY 61 to Dewitt for some pizza! Let's go!

We are going to Hall Of Fame Pizza cause well they have a little bit of everything on their menu.

http://www.dewittpizza.com/index.html

Let's rock!

Got a new T-shirt for Christmas, been waiting to bust this out. Cocktail in hand.

We have arrived.

A few interior pics. The bathroom looked like it had been used pretty hard, although Hall Of Fame was pretty busy when we got there.

The menu. Hall Of Fame has a pretty extensive menu. From pizza to burgers, wraps, pasta, salads, wings and dessert.

The food. We started off with a bucket of (cheese)Balls.

Moll ordered a guacamole burger. It ended up falling apart so a fork was put to use.

Sher ordered a breaded tenderloin. I ate half of it.

The fries were battered and crispy.

Okay. Let's get to it. The pizza. I ordered a medium hand tossed Italian sausage and pepperoni.

So how was the food?

The balls were cheddar nuggets. Fried crispy. We ate them all.
Moll struggled to contain her burger. It got messy ,but she ate most of it and she loved it.
The pizza was okay. Not real great, but certainly not bad. The sausage and sauce could have used some more zip! The crust and cheese were good. A few more minutes in the oven wouldn't have hurt either.

The real star was the tenderloin. Not real big,but plenty of flavor and thickness, The breading had good flavor and a nice crunch. I'd go back just for the tenderloin.

Overall I give Hall Of Fame Pizza a good solid 8. Our server Gabe gave us great service and never left us waiting.

It feels good to get out and Sher has been going stir crazy. She is now in the hobbling and rehab stage so life is slowly getting back to some normalcy.

As always
