I'll have the Usual

This time of year we have a bunch of birthdays. Right after Christmas and no money ta boot! We we have cash, but still.

So our son and sister in law celebrate Bdays at the same time. The sis in law likes Mo Brady's on (heehee) Brady St in Davenport. So hence it seems like that is the usual for this set of Birthdays.

I didn't get many good pics so this post is kind of short and to the point.

Mo Brady's is a steak house. And they do steak well. I had a sirloin and it was delish.

The mens room. Pretty clean.

A hunk of coconut shrimp. About the only food pic I got.

Birthday cake.

After checkout.

So. I apogise for the lack of pics. This was more of a private birthday get together than a reason to take a bunch of pics.

That said. Mo Brady's is a ying to the Texas Roadhouse yang. A much more quieter and older crowd tends to be at Mo's. And I like that. Everyone in the family had no complaints about the food and our two servers were most johnny on the spot.

And Mo's was packed. At least 50 people waiting for a table when we were leaving. I've never had bad food or service. Sometimes it's nice to have a low key place to have a decent steak.

Happy Birthday to my son Eric and sister in law Gail. We all had a good time. Seems our family has groupings of birthday get togethers and another one coming up at the end of March.

If you want a decent steak and a quiet atmosphere you certainly can't go wrong at Mo's.

Scotty gives it a good ole 8. One ding was the price. A wee bit on the high side, that said you can conversate here unlike The Roadhouse where ya gotta yell to talk.

Cheers!

Starting 2018 Irish style !

How in the hell have I never heard of this band?  I love rum. So I got that going for me. And I've always been a sucker for Irish music.

The Rumjacks! I gotta get out more often. Thin Lizzy, yes please. The Dropkick Murphie's, okay. U2, since Boy and New Years Day.

This Rumjack's lead singer reminds me of Guy Martin. That Guy Martin. The crazy real road racer. He ain't no sissy boy MotoGP racer. Notice both tires off the ground?

Okay. Okay Scotty simmer down. Let's not pop the wad early in January. I'll try.

I have been lurking on a Facebook Breaded Tenderloin page. I've had a pork hankering for awhile now. A few locals had gushed over Stout's Irish Pub in Clinton for their breaded tenderloins. I checked them out and they had pizza on the menu too!. Let's go.

The Rumjack's. Get it? Cheers.

Stout's

Stout's is right behind the Kohls and Walmart in Clinton. Not hard to find.

The bathroom if I could ding Stout's just for this. No urinal, just a busy knock, knock, knock stool.I can't imagine how slammed this poor bathroom is gonna be come shamrock shake day.

Evidently Stout's is part of some Iowa Tenderloin Trail and mall walk. I can't argue that.

So. How was Stout's? Sher and I went with no expectations except for the reviews we had read on some Yelp and Facebook pages.

And? Outstanding!!!!!!!!! The tenderloin I daresay better than I have ever had and I include the historic St Olaf T-loin in that pantheon.

Just look at this beauty.

It tasted every bit as good as it looked and I'm not lying. A good crunch. Moist and perfect thickness.

I am not one of those dogmatic aholes that say one can only have some certain condiment on any certain type food. I proudly put some ketchup and red onion on this bad boy. Scotty is no mustard fan and never will be.

Let us not forget we ordered a pizza too. A large sausage, pepperoni and onion.

We give the pizza a solid 8.5. Would have been a 9 for me ,but the tenderloin just out shined the pie and that's saying something coming from me.

The aftermath.

Final thoughts. We had a few other things in mind today, food wise. But dang. I think we just kicked the crap out of the start of 2018.
Sher gives the T-loin a ten and the pizza an 8.

I give a solid 9 across the board. We both agreed we would just return for the tenderloin as it is just that good. and would I lie to you all? I can't.

Stout's in Clinton is that good.

Some Irish band.Think I'll stay close for some more.

Here's to an asskickin 18!

Rattle that lock indeed. I'd like to think that we kicked it up a wee bit here at QC Style Pizza and More this year.

I'm finally getting my shtick down. And the music videos are now a permanent fixture of my blog posts. You might not like them dear readers, but I hope to entertain  and that's the whole point for me doing this labor of love. I love music as much as pizza! I sure as heck am not doing it for anything but fun, and we don't get our pizza for free.

That's one issue I haven't had to confront is accepting free food for a good review. Luckily this blog flies under the radar enough that I don't have to worry about that. We might, but I'll kick that can down the road for now.

I've had a few people tell me I'm not professional enough for this blog. I like to have a few cocktails to get in the mood so that's not going to change either. This is suppose to be fun and the family pics do show us trying to have a good time.

Okay enough blather.

A few thoughts about this year in review.

My favorite pizza this year and I think my wife would agree hands down is Zoey's Pizza in Marion IA. Go there and try it. I dare ya not to like it.

We got on a really good run of fun mid July thru August hitting up Zoey's ,Falbo's, 11th St Precinct and Haze Smokehouse over in Peru Illinois.

My absolute highlight for the year was getting to see and talk to Chris Duarte. Go buy his music!

I can't recall if we had any bad pizza either. Might have, but no matter it's part and parcel of picking some pizza joint to try.

Looking forward to next years fun, frivolity and eating more pizza.

We have a lot of places in mind and we hope you all ride along for the fun. We wouldn't mind you to come with us too. Just pay for your pizza. Do I look rich to you? lol.

We do Go Our Own Way too.

Cheers from the QC Pizza gang! See ya next year!

Almost the end (of a great year) !

For some reason this time of year always makes me a little melancholy. Hence one of Zepp's most under the radar classics!

Okie dokie. Yours truly and family have done the usual holiday bluster and school concerts and such. And attending my uncles funeral. Haven't left much time for pizza.Plus I have been working a lot of hours too.

My Uncle Jerry wasn't much of a pizza fan ,but seems he always was around for some Happy Joe's.

And so. Onto almost a new year.

Beginnings. A most righteous Chicago tune and a new pizza joint in Bettendorf.

https://qcpizzaco.com/

This is the former location of Hall Of Fame Pizza and Beavers East.

I am hopeful this joint sticks around, but. And there is that big fat BUT. Cheers from me to you all.

Here goes.

In all honesty I should tell you  Quad City Pizza just opened up a few days ago. Service was a wee bit slow and not much follow up so I will cut them slack for that.

The bathroom warzoned.

A little bit spruced up from the Hall Of Fame days.

 The menu.

Pre pizza goofing.

Allrighty let's get to the food!

We were happy to see another pizza joint moving into the old Beavers East location.

A Quad City Times article had my hopes up too.

http://qctimes.com/entertainment/dining/family-owned-quad-city-pizza-company-to-open-wednesday-in/article_17614e7f-cfef-598e-b716-e57fc1d04d54.html

Let's see some pizza. For the record.

We each got our own mini pizza. I got a sausage. Moll got a taco. Sher got a pepperoni.
And Sher and I got a fried chicken breast. Moll got a chicken leg.

Final thoughts. We have been following this opening way before they did open. I was hopeful that this was going to be a new twist on QC Style pizza.Alas. We couldn't tell any difference taste wise to any other QC style pizza joint. Same ole same ole.But as they said in the article. They own Fields Of Pizza and man o man they do know how to fry chicken.

Kind of a let down and the service was kind weak.Although the fried chicken kicked it up a notch. To be honest they have only been open a few days.

We decided a middlin 8 for this newish zza joint.

Will we be back? For the chicken and that's it.

We all Love Sammy Hagar,right?

Damn straight we do!

It's that weird week of Thanksgiving. So much going on.So little time for anything.

We didn't feel like cooking this Sunday. But in the mood for some south of the border funny's.

That said. There is a newer Tex/Mex restaurant in Eldridge called Cabo's, hence the VH reference!

Let's check it out. Full disclosure. We have been there once before a few months ago. The service and plating was new and a little shaky. Thought we would try it again.

A good ole Sailor Jerry rum cocktail.

We always have a little Thanksgiving light display.

I didn't get a lot of good pics. Enjoy the ride.

After that meal. The wife wanted some Freddy Fender. Who am I to argue? Tex Mex food.

Okay. Eldridge finally has a decent Mex/American style taco joint. There has been a Rudy's out here forever, but Cabo's is just a little different.

I'll give Cabo's a 6.5. Not bad but not real great. For kick ass Mexican I suggest La Rancherita in Rock Island or any other joints in Moline/E Molins/Silvis area.

One more vid before a Turkey blog update.

Earache My Eye! Get some!!!!! Happy Holidays my pizza loving friends.

As always. A labor of love.

Pizza is life.
