So we went to Long Grove a few weeks ago for pizza. Does the sun come up on a sleepy little town?
I tried to make this a blog update but for some reason my blogger-fu was weak that day.
So anyways. Our neighbor Lindsey told us the Long Grove Tap had super pizza. Well Long Grove is about 4 minutes from our front door lets go!
The pizza.
So how was the pizza and why are there taco's in this review? Moll wanted tacos that's why. She gave them 2 thumbs up btw.
The pizza? Pretty darn good for bar pizza. I'll give it a solid 8.
If you are ever near Scott County Park and wanting to eat you certainly can't go wrong stopping by in Long Grove. Plus new owners have really fixed up the place.
As always.

I tried tonight. Lord I tried. Yeah. I know it's Saturday Night and all was well till I got some not unexpected bad news.
Today started out pretty good. We took a roadtrip in the trusty Batmobile (RIP Adam West also). To spend a gift certificate that had been calling my name fore almost a year.
Miles later and a T-shirt from New Glarus Brewing we decided we were too lazy to cook the tasty sausages we picked up from Reuf's and Hoesly's.
Might as well use the gift certificate Eric got his Mama to Millz Pizza.
So onto Millz. I must say. I got a haircut the other day and let my 11 year old style my hair. Cheers!
Some background on Millz. Millz Pizza is in an old KFC on Kimberly and Division in Davenport right next to the Walgreen's and not far from Tony's Pizza.
The bathroom was actually clean.
Millz has some sort of pizza eating challenge. This is how big the pizza is if you must.
So. Onto the pizza. We ordered a small Original Millz crust Taco pizza.
And a large double Sausage thin crust.
So to my thoughts. I really wanted to like this place. I have followed Millz since they opened last summer.Talked to people that have been there too.
The sausage was great as was the sauce. The thin crust needed baked longer.Sheri and Moll both said the original crust on the taco was different.
Will we go there again? I won't. So many better options. Collectively Sher,Moll( and I listen to her opinion too) and I give Millz about a 7.
It wasn't bad,but Tony's two blocks away is miles better.

Yeah. It's been awhile. When I found out Tony's Pizza from Moline opened up shop in West Davenport I couldn't Hardly Wait,I Can't Wait. Not sure if Jesus rides beside me,but with Bob and Paul serenading we drove for some pizza.
I've made mention of trying not to repeat any pizza joints and for the most part we haven't. With the news Tony's opened up on West Kimberly, I just had to go. See my Tony's trip from Moline elsewhere in this blog.
Yours truly enjoying some rum on the patio beforehand.
Watchin the pool get filled.
Okay. On with the show. So Tony's Pizza from Moline for some reason decided to open up a joint in West Davenport(yay)! I think Davenport is in for a treat with Tony's around. I've professed my love for QC Style Pizza many times on this blog and Tony's is different in a good way
Tony's claims to be a Chicago Style Thick and Thin crust joint. It's for sure not a Frank's,Harris,Uncle Bills et al type pizza.
They opened up shop in West Davenport by the Hy-Vee and Checkers area by Kimberly and Pine St.
The Batmobile.
Some outdoor and indoor shots.
The single stall bathroom was clean!
A few more indoor shots.
Oooo pizza!
Allright, allright, enough goofin around.Time for the stars of this show.
Let me just say before hand. We ordered a small deep dish Tony's Deluxe(sausage, onion, mushroom and pepperoni) And a large thin crust triple sausage. Lesson learned from Tony's in Moline. Chintzy on the toppings hence the triple sausage.
Enough leftovers for another meal!
Final thoughts. From the moment I heard Tony's opened up in Davenport, I knew that was going to be our next trip. Tony's is that great!
I'm not much of a deep dish fan so I only had a few bites from Moll's plate. The toppings and sauce were top notch.I don't much care for the cakey type deep dish crust.although it did taste good.
The thin crust. Oh my the thin crust is the star of this show. Thin and with a perfect crunch. The triple sausage and cheese was a home run.
Not sure what Sheri thinks, but I'm giving Tony's Pizza in Davenport a solid 9.5. I don't often give out really good reviews, but this pizza is that good.
We will be back!
As always. We do this because we love pizza. YMMV.
Talk about being asleep at the wheel. Just found out Tony's Pizza from Moline has opened up a store near the West Kimberly Hy-Vee. So we need to visit there and Millz Pizza closer to Division St.
As always we are busy busy. So many places to visit.so little amount of time/cash.
Our Tony's visit to Moline last year was excellent.
I have pizza's to check out!

So what has your ever faithful pizza lover been up to lately? That dirty word called yard work. That and assorted Birthdays and the Easter holidays have had us pretty busy.
We last visited Antonella's in downtown Davenport. Seems this time of year is always kinda busy with springy good weather, gardening, graduations and what not.
As always we are plotting roadtrips, visits, towns and people that usually we end up not doing half as much as we want too. I still gotta work to pay for this pizza fetish we have.
So. The blog might be slow as it always seems to be this time of year. Sher and I are planning a few visits.
We have tried to not do repeat visits because there are so many joints we haven't got around to. All in good time my faithful readers.
A few thoughts. With good weather here,we want to drive. We have a good friend in Peru Illinois that brags up some pie there. And then we have The Onion Grove in Clarence Ia that gets good props. And Bombfire in Sabula.
Like Robert Cray says. So Many Pizza's ,So Little Time!
As always.

Why am I starting out a Quad City Pizza Blog update with a Journey song you ask? For one thing Journey just got inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. The harmonies of Greg Rollie and Steve Perry are to me unmatched. And well this song kicks ass and at least not overplayed.
That said. The song title is People And Places. And we got our share of people watching and seeing old familiar places being changed for the better.
We have heard good things about Antonella's in downtown Davenport for quite awhile now,so what better time when the weather is better and people are out and about? And people were filling the sidewalks of downtown Dport today. So glad to see things happening downtown too.
Okay. On with the pizza. As ever your faithful host. Rum seems to taste better when temps rise!
Enjoying a few downtown shots.
The menu.
So Scotty ,you ask. What did you order? Well Antonella's has a pretty good deal for pizza. Order a X-Large pizza and get a small one topping for free. So that's what we did. A X-Large double sausage and a small pepperoni. Moll got some chicken Alfredo and it was as good as Vinny V's in Dubuque.
The XL.
The small pepperoni.
Moll's salad and pasta.
So how was the food? I give the pizza an 8.5 on the Scotty scale of pizza goodness. The crust was the star of this show with the sausage coming in second. What held this from being a totally kick ass pizza was the sauce. If the sauce had more kick this pizza would have been the bomb. Moll's Chicken Alfredo was quite delish. Antonella's does have pan and deep dish crusts so we will be back to try those out and some point in time.
Well worth the visit for the food and well the whole downtown vibe was pretty damn cool! That said. There was a well known QC radio DJ eating when we walked in. I didn't want to be a total dope, cause I would have probably made an ass of myself. but He did have my son and his band on the other morning so there is that.
Leaving and walking around I took a few shots of the downtown and well things were hopping! And Sheri waxed poetic cruising past good ole Davenport Central.
Lucy could smell the leftovers too.
As always faithful readers. We do this because we love pizza and we hope you do too!
